Two Iranian shorts awarded in Argentina

Argentine film festival UNCIPAR awards Iranian shorts.

Two Iranian short films have been awarded at the 2019 UNCIPAR International Short Film Festival in Argentina.

‘Breathing’ directed by Farshid Ayyoubinejad was awarded Best Short Fiction and ‘Azadeh’ directed by Mir Abbas Khosravinejad received the festival’s Diploma of Honor.

Farshid Ayyoubinejad’s ‘Breathing’ is a short film about a group of stone factory laborers who hides in a dark room every time an insurance inspector pays them a visit, but this time a different scenario plays out.

Mirabbas Khosravinejad’s ten minute short film ‘Azadeh’ narrates the story of a young girl who wants to visit her father one last time, with her mother and brother preventing her from doing so.

‘Breathing’ has been a contender at many international film festivals including the 2019 Busan International Short Film Festival in South Korea,  the 2018 Lifft India Filmotsav-World Cine Fest, and Spain’s 21st Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes de Vila-Real.

The flick was also the recipient of a mention of merit at the short fiction section of the 2019 Construir Cine International Labor Film Festival in Argentina.

The UNCIPAR festival seeks to promote the genre of short film and introduce the achievements of new talents. Besides screening films, the festival holds workshops, debates, and exhibitions for children.

The 41st annual event was held August 17-19 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
